The usual definition of an Icon is that of a picture, image, sign or other representation. It can be an object or symbol of uncritical devotion, whether religious or part of popular culture.

Icons and Brands
In marketing and advertising, icons are what brands strive to become one day. Icons are unique, exceptional and timeless symbols, and iconic brands manage to break through consumer barriers to create emotional bonds.
Iconic brands go beyond being visual images and become symbols of our times, i.e., cultural icons. Brands like Coca-Cola®, Apple®
and Adidas®
often reflect the changing values of our society. Instantly recognizable are Coca-Cola's dynamic ribbon device, Apple's apple and Adidas' three parallel bars. These are more than just brands, they are part of our culture.

Why Icon 27?
We wanted an easily identifiable name, and after kicking around a dozen or so ideas we kept gravitating towards the word "Icon." It's instantly reconizable and easily remembered, and since we are based in a town where symbols and numbers rule, we incorporated our lucky number 27 into the business name.
While Las Vegas itself is an icon, the Las Vegas sign is the most famous pop culture icon here (after Wayne Newton of course). This is partly why we selected the sign as our unofficial mascot (and for the fact that that Mr. Newton would of probably objected to us Photoshopping a 27 tattoo on his bicep).
